Julia Oravisto

Julia is the founder of BAY Pilates & Yoga at Kanavaranta Katajanokka. She discovered Pilates in her early twenties which took her to Sydney, Australia, to study with Polestar Pilates to become a certified teacher on the mat and apparatus. With a background in contemporary dance and having practiced the Feldenkrais method, Alexander Technique, Klein Technique, meditation and yoga, Julia’s classes are influenced by these somatic approaches to create a transformative and positive movement experience.

Julia is passionate about making everyone feel welcome and included. Her approach to Pilates is holistic and focused on the body-mind connection composed by precise movement, flowing transitions and the breath.

An exploration of ‘less is more’ through simple and intentional movement. By focusing on the Pilates principals, we are able to peel back to the simplicity of feeling strong and connected within the body and mind, and thereby experience a state of flow.

No previous experience from Pilates is needed.
